Experience dinosaurs up close
Whether small or huge, with or without feathers, herbivores or carnivores – in our exhibition you will encounter an impressive variety of dinosaurs that once populated our Earth.
The Plateosaurus greets you in the entrance area: bipedal and standing upright in full size, its lifelike model can be touched.
In the ‘Dinosaur Jungle’, you will encounter the sharp-toothed Allosaurus and the spiked herbivore Hesperosaurus – a stegosaur.
A 17-metre-long Diplodocus elegantly stretches through the central hall of the museum, accompanied by detailed models of its early life stages – in the egg and as a young animal.
The Nanosaurus, which was about the size of a medium-sized dog, shows that not all dinosaurs were huge. Its lifelike reconstruction even won an award: the John J. Lanzendorf-National Geographic PaleoArt Prize.
The original fossils of Allosaurus, Hesperosaurus, Diplodocus and Nanosaurus on display originate from excavations carried out by Swiss archaeologist Köbi Sieber – founder of the Aathal Dinosaur Museum – and his team. The Aathal Dinosaur Museum bequeathed the fossils to the University of Zurich.
