2022 – Chicken – a Dinosaur legacy

2022 Chicken – a Dinosaur legacy

Prolonged until 30 October 2022

Chickens are among the most widespread domesticated animals in the world. There are more than twice as many of them as there are humans. Nevertheless, the existing knowledge about these ubiquitous animals in society is low. This is mainly due to the fact that chickens, instead of being birds, are mainly considered as consumer goods, without any biological or evolutionary identity.

The exhibition "Chicken – a dinosaur legacy" illustrates the complex biology and evolutionary history of chickens. Chickens are more than just food: they are complex and diverse animals, the result of an evolutionary process that began with dinosaurs and culminated in a variety of human-influenced forms through the process of domestication.
